Saif Ali Khan, one of the most celebrated actors of the Indian film industry, has been very disappointed and been equally vocal about it too. The reason is none other than his latest movie Humshakals. The movie bombed at box office big time and the moment it received bad reception Saif came out in open to display his regret.
Humshakals was Sajid Khan’s new venture and it didn’t just have Saif in it but there were other big names related to it as well like, Ritesh Deshmukh, Bipasha Basu, Esha Gupta, etc. Sajid has delivered a number of flops in the past and this too fell flat the moment it released.
The Chote Nawab of the industry dismissed the movie off hand and said that he had his doubts about doing the movie from the beginning. He did whatever Sajid asked him to do as there was no proper script as such available for the actors. We would say that this has genuinely taken us by surprise, for why an actor of his stature would do a movie without formal scripting and structure?
Saif also said that he didn’t enjoy the comedy in the movie at all and underestimated his fans’ intelligence and taste. He called the humor in the movie as crass and untasteful, which is just about the right explanation for it.
He told media very candidly that he only did the movie because he enjoyed Sajid’s and Ritesh Deshmukh’s company, otherwise the movie is far below his capabilities and style. All this coming from Saif must have been one hell of a painful thing for director Sajid Khan.
In fact, Saif is not the only one who disowned the movie as quickly as he could.
Even actors like Bipasha Basu and Esha Gupta did exactly the same, but in their own ways. Bipasha didn’t contribute in promoting the movie and Esha publically announced that she told her father, who is an ex army man, not to watch the movie since he wouldn’t be able to ‘bear it’.Well, this is a lesson for all the actors in Bollywood—they should learn to say no to the scripts and movies that they don’t believe in and must carefully do what their fans expect them to do. Thanks to Saif’s condemnation of his own bad choices, every actor will learn something from it.
