With just a look at Priyanka’s upcoming movie, Mary Kom’s, first look one can confidently say that she has successfully broken her own limitations and depicted herself in a way that has never been done before in Indian cinema. The usually glamorous and sexy actress has donned a ‘closer to the life’ look for the movie in an effort to portray Mary Kom’s character in its full honesty.
She didn’t shy away for even a second from stripping herself off her typical diva image. The movie is director Omung Kumar’s brain child and has received backing from Sanjay Leela Bhansali. It’s a biopic based on five time world champion boxer Mary Kom and takes the audience through her journey of defying the conventions and following her true calling. PeeCee was undoubtedly the right choice to become the face of this story because she has a successful history of carrying off unconventional roles with an ease. Whether it was Vishal Bhardwaj’s 7 Khoon Maaf or Anurag Basu’s Barfi, Priyanka exemplified courage and brilliance in every offbeat role that she took up.
She herself proclaimed that portraying Mary Kom wasn’t a difficult task for her because she could relate to her story very well. She said that just like Mary she also came from a small town and took the world by surprise with her dedication towards making her dream come true. She called herself a rebel, rebel without a cause, which is one word that can be used to exactly define Mary.
Mary Kom’s first trailer is out recently; it was released on Priyanka’s birthday and you’ve to watch it to believe what a brilliant piece of art work it is slowly revealing itself to be and hats off to Priyanka who has given so much of herself into it, which shows through the trailer.
The movie is scheduled to come out in October and we simply can’t wait until then. We wish Priyanka very best and congratulate her for taking the plunge to represent such a tough character. We are convinced that all her effort that went into making this movie, the way she transformed herself 360 degrees for this, will be rewarded with success and love from her fans and it might not be farfetched to say that it might even earn her the National Award.
